| The Lancers have their sights on a 5th consecutive WCAL title and CCS Championship. |
Saint Francis enters the 2011-2012 having strung together 4 consecutive undefeated seasons in the WCAL. This year, the Lancers look to improve upon 3 consecutive 2nd place finishes at the CCS Championships. The team will be headlined by 3x CCS Champion Jorge Barajas, CCS Finalists Daniel Polanco and Sam Hopkins, as well as section medalist Sean Summers.
Also returning to the starting lineup are section qualifiers Charley Clarke, Kevin Christensen, and Kia Fariba. The coaches are relying on seniors Jesse Thomas, Kevin Elmore, Danny Mujica, and Ryan Frizzell to earn medals and contribute crucial team points. Juniors Cameron Petersen and Paul Golan and sophomores Aaron Ramirez and Josh Sambrano are poised for big seasons as well. This group will be pushed by an eager and talented group of freshmen looking to make names for themselves. Saint Francis begins it's competition schedule on Dec. 3rd at the Peninsula Invitational at Half Moon Bay High School.

Jorge Barajas had an impressive showing at the Battle for the Belt at Temecula Valley High School. Barajas had a 5-1 record, including 2 pins, on his way to taking 3rd place. Widely regarded as one of the toughest tournaments in the state of California the Battle for the Belt is a good barometer for the state meet. Jorge is three-time CCS Champion and he looks for big things this year at the state meet. |

Sean Summers is having a great season. Summers boasts a 24-7 record and has won two individual tournaments (the Peninsula and Curt Mettler Invitational). He also placed 4th at the Zinkin Classic, 3rd at Apple Cider, and 6th at C.I.T. Sean was 4th in the CCS last year and has his sights set on the state meet this year. |
